HSL 124 - Hospitality Department Trainer 1 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).
This continuing education course is designed to enable the student to develop the skills to work effectively as a hospitality department trainer. Upon successful completion of this course and exam, students earn the Certified Hospitality Department Trainer (CHDT) designation from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute. Topics to be covered include: how to deliver training, including the four-step training method; group training; one-on-one training; e-learning; how to assess training; use of audio-visual aids; different ways of learning; proper safety procedures; and property and legal policies.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. explain how to assess training needs;
2. explain property and legal policies related to training;
3. describe best practices for audio-visual aids;
4. explain the four-step training method;
5. compare and contrast different ways of training, such as group training, one-on-one
training, and e -learning, and when it is best to use each; and
6. demonstrate effective communication skills essential to delivering training.
