MGT 790 - EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Course Objectives:
This course is designed to enable the student to develop personal leadership skills and enhance their ability to develop effective, productive workplace relationships that they can apply in their position as a manager or supervisor. Topics to be covered include: defining emotional intelligence (EQ), personal competence, and social competence; self-awareness; and techniques to more effectively manage one’s self and their working relationships.

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. define emotional intelligence; 2. discuss the business case for emotional intelligence and its impact on workplace morale, retention, productivity, and performance;
3. explain the four emotional intelligence styles;
4. identify and discuss personal emotional intelligence style; and
5. create a plan to develop emotional intelligence to utilize in the workplace.
