This continuing education course is designed for students to explore key concepts and develop essential skills with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud, independent of specific technical roles. This course also helps students prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. Topics to be covered include: AWS cloud concepts, services, security, architecture, pricing, and support.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. articulate the working definition of AWS;
2. differentiate between on-premises, hybrid-cloud, and all-in cloud;
3. describe the basic global infrastructure of the AWS cloud;
4. explain the six benefits of the AWS cloud;
5. describe and provide an example of the core AWS services, including compute, network,
databases, and storage;
6. identify an appropriate solution using AWS cloud services with various use cases;
7. describe the AWS well-architected framework;
8. explain the shared responsibility model;
9. describe the core security services within the AWS cloud;
10. describe the basics of AWS cloud migration;
11. articulate the financial benefits of the AWS cloud for an organization’s cost
management;
12. define the core billing, account management, and pricing models; and
13. explain how to use pricing tools to make cost-effective choices for AWS services.
