FIN 050 - Pricing for Profitability


.5 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to allow the student, who is an entrepreneur or small business owner, to learn how to develop a pricing strategy for products and services. Topics to be covered include preparing an inventory database, fixed and variable costs, competition pricing, consumer price threshold, return on investment, pricing strategies, finding a break-even price, determining cost structure, profit, and the effect of pricing on marketing.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

1. demonstrate the ability to calculate a business’s fixed and variable costs,
2. discuss how the competition impacts your pricing,
3. distinguish between profit and profit margin,
4. discuss ways to improve profit margin, and
5. describe how to align pricing to marketing strategies.​
