This continuing education course is designed to enable participants, who are aspiring business owners, to learn the key legal issues relating to intellectual property, copyright, patents, and trademarks. Topics to be covered include: intellectual property protection; the differences between patents, trademarks, and copyright; and strategies to ensure an idea is not already protected.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
1. define intellectual property;
2. differentiate between patent, trademark, and copyright law;
3. discuss the myths of intellectual property protection; and
4. discuss strategies to ensure an idea is not already protected.
