MGT 846 - Leading High Performing Teams


Course Objectives:
This course is designed to enable the student to build and lead high performing teams in their position as a manager or supervisor. Topics to be covered include: the basics of team dynamics, the stages of team formation, motivating teams, how to utilize individual strengths to bring out the best in all team members, using coaching and reinforcing skills as a catalyst for high performance and continuous improvement, and collaboration techniques.

Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
1. identify the stages of team formation,

2. define different team roles and responsibilities,

3. identify characteristics of high performance teams,

4. identify individual styles and their impact on group dynamics,

5. apply collaborative problemsolving and decision-making techniques, and

6. use action planning tools to improve team performance.
