NURN 218 - Maternal-Newborn Nursing Concepts


3 Credit(s).

Is a course in which students examine the role of the nurse generalist in the care of families experiencing the human reproductive process (pregnancy, labor and birth, and post-partum).  Emphasis is placed on exploring the concepts of human reproduction, human development during the neonatal period, and family dynamics. Nursing care management of human reproductive complications related to the concepts of perfusion, infection, gas exchange, and metabolism are addressed. Through didactic and clinical learning experiences, students are prepared to support women and their families through the reproductive process by assisting and teaching them to care for themselves and a new human life. Course offered every fall, spring and may be offered during additional sessions.

Prerequisite(s): NURN 160  with a grade of ”C” or higher
