MGT 794 - Managing Conflict


.6 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to enable the student to learn skills for effectively resolving conflict with staff they manage or supervise in the workplace. Topics to be covered include: causes and effects of conflict; resolution skills, styles, and techniques; situations where there is no clear resolution; and benefits of conflict management.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. discuss the nature of conflict in the workplace,
2. describe approaches to conflict resolution,
3. describe strategies for resolving conflict in the workplace,
4. discuss the effective use of communications in resolving conflict, and
5. discuss how to handle situations where there is no clear resolution.
