This course is designed to enable the student to learn an introduction to the theory and hands on components of construction trades. Topics to be covered include OSHA, safety, math, tools, drawings, communication and material handling.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1. list cores elements of basic construction safety,
2. complete and obtain OSHA 10 certification,
3. complete and obtain first aid and CPR certification,
4. solve math problems using basic construction math,
5. identify hand and power tools,
6. demonstrate how to safely use hand and power tools,
7. demonstrate how to interpret construction drawings,
8. identify essential techniques of rigging,
9. discuss fundamentals of effective communication,
10. discuss employability within construction trades, and
11. demonstrate material handling at a basic level.
