Bookkeeper - Entry Level

Program Description


This Continuing Education Certificate prepares students in the field of bookkeeping. Bookkeepers compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. They perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining and checking the accuracy of accounting records, calculations and postings.

Program Objectives


CCBC Credential:

Students will be awarded a Continuing Education Workforce Training Certificate, and will have access to a Continuing Education academic record (transcript).   Please note that this is an entry-level certificate and should not be confused with the Certified Bookkeeper status offered by the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB).

Length of Training


5–6 months; courses start in February and September at CCBC Essex and CCBC Randallstown.

Program Requirements


High School Diploma or GED

Recommended: Students considering this option should have basic computer skills, some experience with Microsoft Excel, and have successfully completed a high-school level basic algebra class. 

Application Process


To apply, go to ccbcmd.edu/apply and complete the CCBC Non-Credit Workforce Training Certificate application.  An email will then be sent with program information and any additional requirements necessary to apply for the program.

Open Entry – No screening or documentation required.
