*If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed transferable college credit(s) at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the degree by 1 credit. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:


Upon successful completion of this degree, students will be able to:

  1. develop safe and effective individualized exercise prescriptions based on an individual’s goals and health history;
  2. demonstrate proficiency in exercise science principles when leading individual and group fitness programs;
  3. conduct fitness assessments in laboratory and field-test settings in a fitness, hospital, or wellness facility;
  4. use the tools of effective verbal and written communication relating to fitness leadership occupations; and
  5. transfer to a four-year institution as a Kinesiology major, with junior year status.

Program Description:


The Health and Fitness Studies program prepares students for a professional career as either a personal trainer, fitness specialist or transfer student to a four-year kinesiology degree. Students learn how to conduct physical and health risk assessments, interpret assessment results, design exercise programs, provide fitness instruction and supervise fitness facilities.
