Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 15*

*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101  course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101  during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 16 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.

Program Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  1. read, visualize, and interpret construction documents;
  2. identify, describe, and select construction materials and methods used in residential and commercial construction;
  3. identify and use formulas for areas and volumes as required for estimating; and
  4. identify and interpret safety and health regulations as they pertain to construction.

Program Description:

This certificate is designed for those who are entering either the residential or commercial construction area. The certificate will give a background in visualizing the building and materials seen on prints and in the field. It will help in determining quantities and cost of materials and construction safety and health practices and regulations.
