Total Number of Credits Required for Certificate: 35*
*A new college orientation requirement, completion of the one-credit ACDV 101 course, Transitioning to College, went into effect spring 2010. If you are a credit student who is new to college (meaning you have not successfully completed college coursework at another institution(s)), you are required to take ACDV 101 during your first semester at CCBC, thereby increasing the number of credits required for the certificate to 36 credits. Students are required to provide an official transcript(s) to document successful completion of college coursework at another institution(s) in order for this requirement to be waived.
Upon successful completion of this certificate, students will be able to:
operate manual mills and lathes;
design basic parts to be manufactured;
inspect parts produced on the machine tools;
create basic programs for the CNC Machining Centers and CNC Lathes; and
setup and operate both the CNC Machining Centers and CNC Lathes.
This certificate is designed to prepare students for employment as a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machine operator, machinist, and/or a set-up person. This certificate will be awarded to students who complete the requirements with a 2.0 GPA or higher. Courses may be taken in any sequence as long as prerequisites are met.
