AHL 241 - Certified Surgical Technologist Exam Prep

2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEU). This course is not for Credit(s).

This course is designed to enable the student who is a surgical technologist to prepare to take the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting certification exam. Topics to be covered include: pre-operative preparation, intra-operative procedures, post-operative procedures, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, and pharmacology.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, the students should be able to:
1. evaluate exam content areas to strengthen and reinforce current knowledge;
2. identify content, topics, and material to be reinforced in preparation for the exam;
3. interpret performance on the online and AST study guide practice certification exams;
and
4. implement a plan of action to review problematic areas of performance on the self-
assessment examination.
