This course is designed as an introduction to the basic concepts of health, safety, and nutrition for family child care providers. Topics to be covered include emergency preparedness planning, menu planning, and specific issues of concern for the health and safety needs of children
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
- describe ways to provide a safe and healthy family childcare environment for children,
- explain how to respond to accidents and emergencies in a family child care program,
- list activities that will help children develop good health habits, and
- recognize the signs of illness in children and describe when a child should be excluded from care.
